I believe that curiosity, along with capability, are a designer’s most vital traits. i’ve included this journal of sorts in my professional website because i hope for my present and future clients to see through my eyes the potential of the land to touch us and draw us closer to understanding our own nature.
Scientists are becoming convinced that local bee populations are more effective at critical pollination tasks than imported honeybees. One reason: their innate ability to learn the ‘buzz frequency’ needed to release pollen from any given plant. (How cool is that? They’re tiny musicians!) But in order to maintain these superior local bee populations, farms need, well, frankly, wildness.
That’s where we can help.
We have knowledge and experience in attracting and providing habitat for these native insect populations; in fact, we strive to build that function into all of our gardens. Imagine your farm as more of a productive space amidst a garden of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, bulbs, and simple water features that supports other declining insect species, fascinates you with spectacle and allure, and multiplies these ‘power pollinators’, increasing your yields and reducing or eliminating honeybee maintenance.
